Middle School Principal

Basic Functions and Scope:
The Principal is the chief administrative officer of his/her school. Working closely with the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Principal is responsible for the operation of the School in compliance with educational and operational procedures. The Principal is the educational leader within the school and demonstrates effective instructional and curricular leadership with staff and students.
Duties Performed:
INSTRUCTION:
- Provides direction for the school in all areas of instruction;
- Provides for effective curricular leadership;
- Provides for effective management of instruction;
- Provides for effective staff development;
- Facilitates effective educational change;
- Implements performance evaluation effectively;
- Promotes among staff and students high standards for student performance;
- Clarifies the instructional program to the public.
MANAGEMENT:
- Provides for the effective and efficient daily operation of the school;
- Maintains school facilities conducive to a positive learning environment;
- Ensures efficient management of building level fiscal resources;
- Promotes and maintains a positive school climate;
- Promotes and maintains appropriate student conduct in the school;
- Demonstrates effective communication skills;
- Demonstrates effective organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Provides for effective management of staff.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Demonstrates sensitivity to others;
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students and administrators;
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with parents and other members of the community;
- Demonstrates effective leadership through a team approach.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements programs, policies, procedures and statutory regulations;
- Participates in professional growth activities;
- Demonstrates professional commitment and motivation;
- Completes all other tasks as assigned by the Dean of Academic Affairs;
Work Contacts:
Frequent contacts with faculty, students, parents, administrators, and support staff.
Independence of Operation:
Works in accordance with approved Board Policy, administrative procedures, and direction of the President. Work is annually evaluated by the President.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MA from an accredited institution in Education or Education Administration.
- Minimum five (5) years of related administrative experience as well as teaching experience.
- Valid Administrative Certification.
