It has been a while since ACS Athens hosted local tournaments and it was so exciting to be able to host the Boys Varsity Soccer and Girls Varsity volleyball tournaments. One could see and feel the excitement not only among the student-athletes but among our spectators as well.

Byron College, St. Catherine's, St. Lawrence, Campion and ISA joined us for our first "official" tournament competition, as our teams are working hard and preparing themselves for their international tournaments in November.

The soccer competition was quite strong as we had a number of teams finishing with a tie score; while our soccer boys competed with great stamina and energy, they were eliminated from the final round. They certainly have the desire to continue working hard to get ready for their end of season international competition in Geneva.

The girls varsity volleyball was off to a slow start, dropping their first game to Campion, but as the day went on the girls found their rhythm and played with cohesion. Their final game against St. Lawrence was an exciting game as they were very close to clinching first place; loss of focus after their first game however was a key factor to their loss. The girls finished in third place and they too have a few weeks to continue practicing hard before their international competition in Eindhoven.

Well done athletes and coaches!
