After School Swimming Instructor

Reports to: Aquatics Coordinator

Position: Part-time

Working hours: Mon-Fri, 15:30 - 17:45


General Duties:

  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed at all times;
  • Assists in the instruction of the groups as needed;
  • Ensures program quality;
  • Responsible for the inventory of all equipment;
  • Assists with  participant placements (in collaboration with other instructors);
  • Collaborates with Athletics Office administrative assistants, as needed;
  • Collaborates with Physical Education coaches for class swimming instruction, within working hours;
  • Maintain Logs of incident reports; collaborates with Health Office when needed;
  • Collaborates with outsourced pool maintenance company as needed;
  • Assists Swimming Coordinator with all swimming competitions;
  • Completes other related duties as assigned by Director of Athletics;
  • Provide feedback to students and parents on progress and areas for improvement;
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Physical Education / Sport Science degree (specialty in Swimming);
  • At least one year of experience as a swimming coach;
  • Previous experience with Swimming Academies;
  • Maintain current certifications in CPR / First Aid;
  • Current certification as a Lifeguard;
  • Other Aquatics related certifications (will be considered);
  • Strong swimming skills and knowledge of different strokes;
  • Ability to work well with children of all ages and skill levels;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing in English;
  • Display commitment to safeguarding and protection of children.
